How to Report NCII Across Major Platforms
A general spam report, a copyright notice and an intimate-image removal request ask a platform to review different things. Sending the wrong one can leave out the facts the reviewer needs, or put your own contact details in front of the person who posted the content. This page explains the difference, and what we file for you.
What to keep before anything is filed
Keep the full page, post, profile or album URL and any previous report number. You do not have to search for every copy before getting help, and you do not need to download the content.
If the imagery was taken when you were under 18, use NCMEC's CyberTipline and Take It Down. Do not download or forward sexual imagery involving minors. NCMEC's hashing service uses eligible files already on your device.
Intimate-image requests
Most platforms treat intimate images shared without permission, including digital forgeries, under their own policy, separate from copyright. The request does not depend on who took the photo. Under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, covered platforms must act on a valid request within 48 hours and address known identical copies; see the FTC guidance.
We file these requests as your authorized representative, led by the TAKE IT DOWN Act, for each link in your case. Our pages on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, X and Discord explain how we handle those platforms.
File hosts, albums and offshore websites
A shared album, a direct file and a page linking to that file can be different removal targets, and a page disappearing from one website does not mean a separately hosted file is gone. Many of these sites ignore direct requests. When they do, we go to the companies the site depends on, such as its network provider, hosting company and domain registrar. See Bunkr, MEGA, Erome and EroProfile. Do not pay the uploader for a promise of deletion.
When is a copyright notice appropriate?
Only when the person filing owns the copyright or is authorized by the owner. Being in the image does not automatically give you copyright. A copyright notice carries the sender's contact details, which can be passed on to the person who posted the content, and a valid counter-notice can lead to the content being put back unless a court action follows. The Copyright Office explains this process. We add copyright attestations only where you own the rights.
Search results
Google and Bing can remove intimate images shared without consent from their search results, even when you do not own the website. We file those requests for the links in your case. Search delisting and source removal are different outcomes.
If a platform misses its legal obligation
When a covered platform ignores a valid request, a complaint to the FTC is part of our follow-up.
What a removal service adds
Clear scope, the right request for each link, follow-up while the content stays up, and a record of what happened. You see the unique-domain count and exact price before checkout. No removal outcome is guaranteed. Send us the links you have to review your scope.
